So Tiger is taking an indefinite break from golf.  I think this was a good idea on his part.  He needs to focus on his family and do his best to repair the damage he has done.  I don’t know that it is something that can ever be forgotten, but most people will look past it in time.

Tiger has done a lot to grow the sport of golf. The major tournaments will do fine without him, but the smaller ones may not fair so well.  Putting golf aside, what is going to happen to him financially.  If  he had great attorneys they would have locked in some contracts so he would still be paid even if he isn’t playing.  He is reportedly making around $90 million a year from sponsors, so he should be fine rest of his life with out working again.

I am sure Tiger Woods will come back at some point even if it is just to make an appearance.  With time away his game will suffer, but his family needs him now.

What Tiger Woods’ ‘indefinite break’ from golf might mean

On Friday evening, a statement on Tiger Woods’ website announced that the world’s greatest golfer is going to take “an indefinite break from professional golf.” Tiger begins the statement by expressing awareness of the “disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children.”

Woods adds that “It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try.” The questions now are: Will his family be willing to forgive him, how will his sponsors react and how might his hiatus affect the sport, especially if it turns into a permanent break?   –more

It is really sad to see stories like these. Tiger Woods is a golfing legend.  Scandal is any every sport.  Tiger had a good reputation and over time we will see if he is able to save it.

Tiger Woods Avoids Criminal Charges in Car Crash

Tiger Woods will be cited for careless driving for his car crash last Friday outside his Florida home, the Florida Highway Patrol said Tuesday.

The golfer, 33, could be fined up to $164 for hitting a tree and fire hydrant, but no criminal charges will be filed. Maj. Cindy Williams of the FHP said the highway patrol now considers the incident closed.  –more

Tiger Woods, Wife Elin Nordegren Woods: PRENUP Negotiations

It did not take long after Tiger Woods issued a public apology for unspecified “transgressions” that rumors began to swirl about the financial negotiations between Woods and his wife, Elin Nordegren Woods. First, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Woods was paying his wife “a hefty seven-figure amount” to stay with him. The article also said that a new prenuptial agreement is in the works.

Today, Gerald Posner of the Daily Beast writes that Woods will likely soon pay his wife $5 million and that the prenup could ultimately fetch her $55 million after two years.   –more
